Blair Underwood is a solid, warm counterbalance to Monroe’s withdrawn presence, and Kiernan Shipka (yes, Mad Men’s Sally Draper) has a single scene that she absolutely nails. The most underrated performance of this film, though, will probably be Alicia Witt. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone play “manic” so gracefully.
