It was critically acclaimed at the time of its release, and was the fourth highest gross film of 1983. It won two BAFTA Awards and was nominated for a handful of Golden Globe Awards, including Best Original Screenplay. Just because you don't hear people talking much about it NOW, it doesn't negate the inarguable success that it was when it came out.
